Moving Forward with Hope

As we all know, the development of affordable housing on Maui is a complex endeavor, often encountering unexpected hurdles. Over the past months, our journey to establish Kuikahi Village has been marked by a series of challenges, including interest rate hikes, supply chain disruptions, material shortages, fluctuations in workforce prices, and adjustments to the workforce housing qualification process.

Regrettably, due to these substantial challenges, we must announce a delay in the timeline for the Kuikahi Village neighborhood. However, in the face of adversity, we are not deterred. We are actively engaging with the new Mayor, Council leadership, and Governor to address the impediments that currently hinder the progress of building affordable housing. With their support, we remain hopeful that we will soon be back on track.

While specifics regarding the timeline are not set in stone, we are targeting a groundbreaking ceremony within the next six months and aspire to start accepting lottery applications before the arrival of the New Year.
